India logs 2.38 lakh Covid cases in last 24 hrs

New Delhi, Jan 18 : India’s on Tuesday witnessed decrease in Covid-19 surge, as the country reported 2.38 lakh cases in the last 24 hours, which is around 7 per cent lower than yesterday, as per the Health Ministry data.

With this the total tally of Covid-19 cases in the country has reached at 3.74 crore.As many as 310 people have died of Covid-19 during the past 24-hour period, according to the Health Ministry.

The active cases stands at 17,36,628 which is now comprise 4.62per cent of the total infections, while the national Covid-19 recovery rate has decreased to 94.09 per cent.

The daily positivity rate is up from 14.43 per cent to 19.65 per cent while the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 14.92 per cent as per the data.

Meanwhile, India’s Omicron tally on Tuesday reached 8,891 an increase of 8.31 per cent since yesterday.On the vaccination front, the government has been continuously speeding up the vaccination drive across the country.

According to the bulletin issued by the Ministry on Tuesday 70.54 crore tests for Covid-19 have been done so far.

“India has administered 158.04 doses of Covid-19 vaccine so far under the ongoing nationwide vaccination drive” Ministry data said.

More than 158.16 crores vaccine doses were provided to States/UTs so far. Over 13.25 the crores balance and unutilized Covid-19 vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered, the ministry said.
