DC Srinagar visits SMHS, JLNM, CD Hospitals; Inspects functioning of OGPs

Directs Engineering Wing to conduct immediate Audit of all OGPs, ensure adequate pressure levels at recipient end

SRINAGAR DECEMBER 03: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad on Monday conducted an extensive visit of various City Hospitals and took stock of the functioning of the Medical Oxygen Generation Plants(OGPs) at SMHS, Chest Disease and JLNM Hospitals to ensure adequate and uninterrupted supply and availability of Medical Oxygen there.

The Director Health Services, Kashmir, Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Rather and Chief Engineer MED accompanied the DC during the visit.

At SMHS hospital, the DC was apprised that four Medical Oxygen Plants of 1000 LPM capacity each are presently functioning and cater the requirements of the patients admitted in Hospital particularly in Operation theater, Trauma ward, Emergency unit, besides Covid dedicated wards. He was also informed that the Hospital has a bed capacity of over 750 beds.

While inspecting the Medical Oxygen plants at Chest Disease hospital, the DC was informed that the Hospital is presently able to generate about 3400 LPM capacity of Medical oxygen.

Later, the DC also visited JLNM Hospital Rainawari and took stock of the functioning of the supply of Oxygen Plants. He was informed that the JLNM hospital has capacity of generating more than 2000 LPM capacity of Medical Oxygen.

During his visit, the DC directed all the concerned Medical Superintendents to conduct audit of all the Oxygen Plants and ensure adequate pressure levels of the Oxygen supply so that optimum utilization of the plants is ensured. He also asked them to work with added zeal and dedication and leave no stone unturned while delivering patient care facilities particularly while dealing Covid-19 patients.

He also stressed on ensuring proper electricity backup for uninterrupted oxygen supply to the patients particularly during the adverse weather conditions.

Later, the DC also took stock of availability of Covid care facilities available at these hospitals and enquired about the availability of medicines, beds, ventilators and other equipment requisite for treatment of patients in these hospitals.

Chief Planning Officer, SDM East/Incharge Covid-19, Chief Medical Officer, Executive Engineer MED and other concerned accompanied the DC during the visit.
