SOTTO, Padma Sachdev GPGCW organise awareness program on Human Organ donation

JAMMU, DECEMBER 17: The State organ and tissue transplant organization (SOTTO) J&K, in collaboration with red cross unit, Padma Shri Padma Sachdev, Government P.G. College For women, Gandhinagar, today organised an awareness programme to promote  human organ donation.

The awareness programme included promotional lectures and poster/painting competition on -“Human Organ Donation.”

The key speaker for the day was Dr. Sanjeev Puri, Joint Director, SOTTO, J&K. He emphasized on the role and responsibilities of SOTTO and the change such an awareness programme can bring in the society. Dr. Irfan Ahmed Lone, transplant coordinator, SOTTO,J&K highlighted the historical background of SOTTO by throwing light on the Organ Donation act of 1994.

The chief patron of the programme was Dr. Sangita Nagari, Principal of the college.

She motivated the students to serve humanity by donating organs. The whole program was conducted under the guidance and supervision of Dr. Revika Arora, Nodal officer, Red Cross unit. The program was coordinated by Dr.  Suraj Mohani Jamwal, HOD Sociology. Dr. Ashok Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Biochemistry was technical host for the event. It was a highly interactive session wherein queries were well responded.

Dr. Sanjeev Puri, Dr. Mohinder Pal, HOD Statistics and Dr. Harjeet Kour, Associate Professor ,Department of Botany were the jury members for the painting competition. The first, second and third positions were bagged by Vanshika Slathia,Vanshika Thakur and Nandini Manhas respectively.

The program ended successfully with the support and cooperation of all the members. The vote of thanks was presented by Eisha Gohil, Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology.
