After August 05 2019 situation in J&K has only deteriorated: Omar Abdullah

Says people do not feel safe in their own land as security scenario has completely worsened

Srinagar, Dec 13 : National Conference vice-president, Omar Abdullah on Monday said that the situation has deteriorated since August 05, 2019 when Jammu and Kashmir was stripped off its special status and divided into two union territories.

As per Kashmir News Service (KNS), talking to media persons on the sidelines of a party workers convention at Kupwara, Omar said that there is an absolute change in the situation of Jammu and Kashmir after August 05 2019, but not in good way.

“Two types of changes are there- one is for betterment and the other is deterioration. After August 05 2019, the situation in J&K has only deteriorated and nothing has been done for the betterment of Jammu and Kashmir,” he added.

Omar said that the people are distressed about the present situation and there is a kind of anger among people as well as fear.

“People do not feel safe in their own land as the security scenario of Kashmir has completely worsened. The civil administration also does not take the common people into confidence anymore. There is no one who can listen to the problems of people and to solve their issues. But we also cannot do anything right now as we are helpless,” he said.

Replying to a question, Omar said that visiting and carrying out rallies in various divisions of Jammu is not in any way preparations for elections as nothing is yet confirmed about elections.

“No announcement has been made for holding elections in J&K and neither the delimitation process is complete. Let the delimitation commission finish its job and after which elections could be held,” he said. (KNS)
