India records 8,306 new COVID cases, 211 deaths

New Delhi, Dec 6:A total of 8,306 people have tested positive for COVID-19 during the past 24 hours in the country, the Union Health Ministry said on Monday.

According to the bulletin issued by the Ministry, the total caseload rose to 3,46,41,561, while the death toll rose to 4,73,537 as 211 people succumbed to the virus.

On the other hand, 8,834 more people recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 3,40,69,608.

The recovery rate stands at 98.35 per cent, highest since March last year.

The active caseload now stands at 98,416 less than one per cent of the total cases, the figures showed.

As per the bulletin, 64.82 crore tests for COVID-19 have been carried out so far.

India has administered 127.93 crore doses of COVID-19 vaccine so far under the ongoing nationwide vaccination drive.
