India logs 8,603 new COVID cases, 415 deaths

New Delhi, Dec 4 :A total of 8,603 people tested positive for COVID-19 during the past 24 hours in the country, the Union Health Ministry said on Saturday.

As per the bulletin issued by the Ministry, the total caseload rose to 3,46,24,360, while the death toll rose to 4,70,530 as 415 people succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours.

On a positive note, 8,190 more people have recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 3,40,53,856.

The recovery rate currently stands at 98.35 per cent, the highest since March last year.

The active caseload now stands at 99,974 less than one per cent of the total cases, the figures showed.

According to the bulletin, 64.60 crore tests for COVID-19 have been carried out so far across the country.

India has administered 126.53 crore doses of COVID-19 vaccine so far under the ongoing nationwide vaccination drive.
