India registers 8,954 new COVID-19 cases, 267 deaths in the last 24 hours

New Delhi Dec 1: India reported 8,954 new COVID-19 cases and 267 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally of deceased to 4,69,247 in the country according to the Union Health Ministry’s data released on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the number of active COVID-19 active cases declined to 99,023, the lowest in 547 days, which presently constituted 1 percent of the total cases, the lowest since March 2020, the Ministry’s data said.

The recovery rate reached 98. 36 per cent as 10,207 patients recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative tally of recoveries to 3,40,28,506.

“The daily positivity rate is 0.81 per cent, which is less than 2 per cent for the last 58 days, whereas the weekly positivity rate is 0.84 per cent which also remains less than 1 per cent for the last 17 days now,” the Ministry said.

The testing capacity across the country continues to be expanded. India has so far conducted over 64. 24 Crore tests across the country.

With the administration of 80,98,716 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 124.10 Crore, the Ministry said.

“More than 137 crore vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far through direct state procurement category.

More than 24.16 Cr balance and unutilized COVID Vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs,” said the Ministry.
