Plantation driver under ‘Har Gaon Hariyali’ held at Anantnag

ANANTNAG, NOVEMBER 30: In the backdrop of ‘Har Gaon Haryali’ programme, various plantation programmes were organized today at different places in Pahalgam, Mattan and Bijbehara Ranges of Lidder Forest Division.

The programme was inaugurated by Chairman District Development Council (DDC) Anantnag, Mohd. Yousuf Gorsi at Yenner, Batakoot.

A total 16 events were organized today at Frislana, Bradhaji, Mandlana, Lakdipora, Ainoo, Shumhall, Katsoo Budroo, Panchayat Halqa Manigam, Govt. Primary Manigam, Govt Girls Middle School Sallar and Primary School Seer Check, Govt. Middle School Wajoora, Govt. Middle School Reshkubal, Primary School Grendwan besides Middle School Yashnard under the said programme.

During the event, 2625 plants were planted and 11950 numbers of seed balls were distributed among the villagers at these places.

Speaking at the occasion, MY Gorsi said that the program is aimed at enhancing the green cover in our surroundings. He appealed to the people to take part in the plantation with full vigour.

Dr Mehraj, DFO Lidder said that the department is organizing such plantation drives on a regular basis. While previously the focus was on increasing plantation in areas adjacent to forests, with this program the aim is to carry out plantation in all villages.

The program was attended at various locations by PRIs, field functionaries of forest department and civil society members.
