India logs 8,309 new Covid cases, 236 deaths

New Delhi, Nov 29 : India has recorded 8,309 new Covid-19 cases and 236 deaths in the past 24 hours, taking the total tally to 4,68,790, according to the Union Health Ministry’s data on Monday.

The active cases have declined to 1,03,859, lowest in 544 days. Presently, the active cases are at 0.30 per cent, lowest since March 2020, Ministry’s data showed.

The recovery rate touched 98.34 per cent as 9,905 patients recovered from the virus in the past one day taking the cumulative tally of recovered patients to 3,40,08,183.

“The daily positivity rate is 1.09 per cent, which is less than 2 per cent for the last 56 days, whereas the weekly positivity rate is 0.85 per cent which also remains less than 1 per cent for the last 60 days now,” the Ministry said.

With the administration of 42,04,171 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s Covid-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 122.41 crore, as per the Ministry.

“More than 137 crore vaccine doses have been provided to states/UTs so far through direct state procurement category.

More than 24.61 Cr balance and unutilised Covid vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs,” said the Ministry.
