Farmers gather at Delhi's borders

New Delhi, Nov 26: Farmers from Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and other parts of the country gathered at Delhi’s borders on Friday to mark the first anniversary of the farmer agitation.

Farmer groups once again reiterated that their protest is going to continue as hundreds of farmers reached the Singhu, Tikri, Ghazipur and other borders to observe the first anniversary of the farmer protest today.

Despite the fact that the Prime Minister announced the decision of repealing of the three farm laws last week farmer’s protest has been continuing, they are demanding acceptance of the long-standing demands of the farmers, which includes guarantee of MSP, which is determined as per the formula given by the MS Swaminathan committee, scrapping of the electricity amendment bill, withdrawal of cases against agitating farmers and compensation and resettlement for kin of the farmers who lost their lives during the protests.

A farmers’ mahapanchayat is underway at Singhu Border to decide further course of action.

Rakesh Tikait, in a tweet, said that Minimum Support Price (MSP) guarantee law is the right of farmers.

Farmers have also planned to take out tractor marches to Parliament every day from November 29 onwards. November 29 is the day the Winter Session of Parliament starts.

Meanwhile, in view of farmers gathering at Delhi borders, Delhi Police has deployed police personnel at the borders to tackle any situation.
