VP, PM, Union Ministers extend Constitution Day greetings

PM says govt committed to upholding freedom of press

New Delhi, Nov 26:  Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Cabinet Ministers on Friday greeted the countrymen on the occasion of Constitution Day.

In a series of tweets, the VP wrote, “My heartiest greetings to the citizens of our country on the 72nd #ConstitutionDay. We as a nation are forever indebted to Dr BR Ambedkar and our founding fathers for drafting the visionary #Constitution which is predicated on the ideals of inclusive justice, liberty & equality.”

“On this momentous day, let us all strive relentlessly to ensure that the high ideals of our Constitution are implemented in letter & spirit,” said Naidu.PM Modi in a tweet wrote, “Best wishes to our citizens on Constitution Day.”

He also shared a part of Dr BR Ambedkar’s speech in the Constituent Assembly on 4th November 1948 in which he had moved a motion for adoption of the Draft Constitution as settled by the ‘Drafting Committee’.

Extending his warm wishes, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in a Tweet said,” Greetings to all Indians on the occasion of Constitution Day. Today, we remember those eminent people who assiduously worked to frame the Constitution for the well being of India. Let us rededicate ourselves to the cause of Justice, Liberty, Equality & fraternity in this country.”

Taking to twitter, Union Home Minister Amit Shah called the Constitution as ‘soul’ of democracy and said the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre is dedicated to the welfare and rights of every section by following the footsteps of Dr Ambedkar.

“Since 2015, under the leadership of PM Shri Narendra Modi ji we began to celebrate 26th Nov as #ConstitutionDay. To honour the makers of our constitution and reiterate our commitment to building an India that would make them very proud. Happy #SamvidhanDivas to my fellow citizens,” Union Minister for Law and Justice Kiren Rijiju tweeted.

BJP national president Jagat Prakash Nadda also took to twitter to extend his greetings and said , “Govts may come and govts may go, but our democracy and fundamental rights must flourish – we got this power from the Constitution of India.”
