Mock drill triggers panic in Jammu, police says stay alert from rumours

Jammu, Nov 24: A mock drill exercise by the counter intelligence wing of police on Wednesday triggered panic in the winter capital.

Police however, appealed to the people to not to fall for from the rumours and stay alert.
Earlier in the morning, there were reports about some mysterious object being found inside a bank branch in Janipura area here.

The police team along with the bomb disposal squad rushed to the spot thus triggering panic among the general public in the area.

The netizens circulated messages on social platforms claiming that a “bomb” had been found in the bank further aggravating the situation.

However, the social media platforms remained flooded with messages and texts and people were seen calling each to gather more details.

However, as per reports, it was a ‘bomb hoax’ as a part of mock drill exercise.Senior Superintendent of Police, Jammu, Chandan Kohli in a message said, “A CI drill was conducted in Janipur area of Jammu on Wednesday which is routine within the security setup. People are requested to refrain from rumour mongering.”
