BKU non committal on opposing BJP in the coming assembly polls

Lucknow, Nov 22 :  Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) spokesperson Rakesh Tikait, who is holding a Kisan Mahapanchayat here on Monday to discuss on the PM’s announcement to withdraw 3 farm laws, was non committal on opposing BJP in the Uttar Pradesh and other state assembly polls early next year.

He clearly said that no decision has been taken of campaigning against BJP in UP assembly elections or in another states as of now.

” We had campaigned against BJP in Bengal elections but have not decided about doing the same yet in UP or in any other states, ” he told UNI here today. He said that the farmers are adopting wait and watch policy at present.

Tikait said that they were yet to be informed by the government about the withdrawal of the 3 farm laws .” We got the information only through media and waiting for government’s message,” he added.

Tikait said ,” we are waiting for the government move. Let them full fill our other demands ranging from MSP and others and then we will take a call.”

He said BJP’s agenda can be elections but not ours though elections are still far away. However , he made it clear the withdrawal of the 3 farm laws by PM Modi was late. ” His advisors should have been advised him earlier,” he said.

He said that from day one this 3 farm laws were anti farmers as it was brought without taking the consent of the people of the country.

The farmer leader , who led the agitation and was sitting on dharna at the Ghazipur border for the past one year, charged that Yogi Adityanath government has not delivered anything for the farmers in the state. “Let them come up with a farmers face and show true commitment to the farmers issue,” he added.

Meanwhile, large number of farmers mostly from western UP have gathered at Eco park in the state capital for the Kisan Mahapanchayat today. Tikait will address the farmers in the afternoon and announce the future strategy.
