Former Minister, DDC member and various delegations call on Lt Governor

Jammu, November 17: Former Minister & Provincial President, J&K Apni Party, S. Manjit Singh; DDC Member from Vijaypur, Ms Shilpa Dubey and various delegations called on Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, at the Raj Bhavan here today.

The former Minister briefed the Lt Governor about the difficulties and problems faced by the displaced persons of 1965 and 1971 war. He demanded constituting a Displaced Persons Development Board to effectively mitigate the problems of DPs and submitted a memorandum in this regard.

The Lt Governor assured the former minister that all the concerning issues apprised by him would be taken up with the concerned authorities for the welfare and development of displaced persons.

A delegation led by Shri Ashiq Hussain Khan, Secretary, Shia Federation Jammu while calling on the Lt Governor presented before him the concerning issues and demands of Shia community of the UT. He put forth the demand of a community hall in Jammu, special hostel for the students of the community, augmentation of road, power, and water supply facilities at village Gursai of Poonch, besides other issues.

While listening to the issues presented before him, the Lt Governor observed that the UT government is resolute in ensuring equitable development of all sections of the society.

Ms. Shilpa Dubey, DDC Member from Vijaypur, submitted a memorandum of demands and issues of the people of Vijaypur-B. She also raised the demands for special drives for recruitment of Border area youth in armed forces, besides other developmental issues of Vijaypur.

Meanwhile, Shri Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, senior political and KP leader also met the Lt Governor and apprised him about the concerns of employees from the minority communities and those recruited under the PM’s package, including their safe accommodation in the valley and promotion issues.

While assuring the redressal of all genuine issues through the concerned line departments, the Lt Governor impressed upon the public representatives to continue their endeavours for the welfare of people of J&K.
