Pulwama:Electrical employees stage protest against host of issues confronting them

Pulwama, Nov 15, : Power Development Department employees Monday held a protest against the authorities for not fulfilling their long pending demands, saying if their issues are not addressed immediately the daily wagers working in KPDCL and its allied sections will go for indefinite strike.

The protest was held in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Hundreds of PDL/TDL electrical employees demanded issuance of formal regularization orders, release of pending wages, and submission of pending files of employees who have completed 5 years’ service in the department.

One of the protesters while talking to news agency Kashmir News Trust alleged that officials in Civil Secretariat have deliberately kept hidden away their files and don’t want their miseries to end.

“PDDs Departmental Promotional Committee in year 2019 decided that daily wagers would be regularized as per available vacancies but at the same time officials in Civil Secretariat are deliberately delaying our issues,” he said.

The protesters demanded that pending files in division offices should be immediately sent to chief office and withheld salaries of System & Operation (S&O) employees also should be released.

“We met higher ups several times who assured us that long pending demands would be taken into account but despite passing of so many times, nothing has been done and nothing changed on ground,” the protesters said.

The protesters said that All J&K PDL, TDL Electric Employees Union will not only intensity the protest program but will go for indefinite strike if their demands are not fulfilled. (KNT)
