Afghan Interim Foreign Min Amir Khan Muttaqi to reach Pak for his three-day visit

Kabul, Nov 10: Afghan Interim Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi will reach Pakistan on Wednesday for his three-day visit to hold talks on wide-range of issue including economic and transit and easing way to cross border between the two countries.

This is the first time a delegation of Taliban-led government will be officially visiting Islamabad after the collapse of the civilian government.

TOLO News quoted Anaamullah Samangani, deputy spokesman of the Islamic Emirate, as saying the visit is being made following a visit to Kabul by Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi last month.

On the issues that will be discussed in the three-day visit, he said, “In this visit, talks will be held with different Pakistani officials on expanding ties between the two countries, economic and transit and easing people’s travel in crossings between the two countries.”

TOLO News cited Russia’s TASS news quoting President Vladimir Putin’s special envoy for Afghanistan Zamir Kabulov saying that an “Extended Troika” meeting on Afghanistan would be held in Islamabad on November 11.

In October, Troika meeting was held in Moscow wherein delegation from Russia, Afghanistan and Pakistan participated. The United States did not attend.

According to Dawn, Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi had held detailed discussions with Muttaqi during his visit which laid the foundation of a multi-sectoral engagement between the two countries in the days to come which could usher in an era of enhanced bilateral economic cooperation and people-to-people ties.
