‘Spike in cyber crimes with growing digital platforms, schools must stay alert’

Jammu, Oct 30: With the growing adoption of digital platforms, rate of digital crimes is also increasing rapidly and alertness is the only key to fight against the menace.

Speakers at an awareness campaign alerted students and teachers of schools across the Jammu dvision of the Union Territory during a programme launched by the Directorate of Jammu School Education.
Nearly 10,000 stakeholders were sensitized during the campaign.
The Ministry of Home Affairs implemented a scheme called the ‘Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) to deal with cybercrimes in a coordinated and comprehensive manner.
I4C is also actively involved in developing an ecosystem for cyber security, capacity building, public awareness, etc. so as to create a conducive climate for trust-based transactions and prevention of cybercrimes. This campaign was carried out as per guidelines of I4C.
A handout issued by the Directorate of Jammu School Education here on Saturday said that with a view to strengthen cyber security for prevention of cybercrimes and to tackle the unforeseen challenges of cybercrime by synergizing the efforts of various stakeholders in a sustainable manner, the fortnightly mega cyber safety campaign was organised.
Director, School Education Jammu, Ravi Shankar Sharma laid emphasis on such awareness programmes on cyber security asserting that since Internet is widely being used by people, it is necessary to spread awareness among users for safe and secure use of these platforms/services accessible through internet.
