SIT issues ad to garner evidence in Lakhimpur violence

Lakhimpur Kheri , Oct 27 (UNI) A Special investigation Team(SIT), probing the Lakhimpur violence of October three in which eight people were killed, published an advertisement for giving evidence from eyewitnesses.

The advertisement was issued on Wednesday after Supreme Court on Tuesday lambasted UP police for not calling the eyewitnesses of the violence.

The advertisement published in several newspapers on Wednesday , contained the mobile numbers of five police officers of the SIT team.

The team assured that the name, address will be kept confidential and also claimed to protect the witnesses.

The advertisement has been published by the head of the SIT.

Meanwhile, SIT, has sought police remand for four accused. The court will hear Wednesday on the remand of four including accused Sumit Jaiswal.
