LeT Militant held along with pistol in Pulwama: Police

Srinagar, October 01(GNS) A Lashker-e-Toiba militant was apprehended along with a pistol and ammunition in orchards of Nikloora village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Friday.

A senior Police officer told GNS that today on a specific input generated by Pulwama Police, a CASO was launched jointly by police Pulwama, 55RR of army and 182 CRPF in the orchards of village Nikloora.

The police officer further said that during search one militant was spotted and challenged. The militant was apprehended and one pistol and other ammunition was recovered from his possession.

On ascertaining the identity of the militant was revealed as Shamim Sofi son of Gh Mohammad Sofi resident of Nikloora and was associated with LeT and was active since July this year, he said.

A case in this regard has been registered and investigation has been taken up, the officer added.(GNS)
