India logs 18,870 new Covid-19 cases, 378 deaths

New Delhi, Sep 29 : A total of 18,870 people tested positive for Covid-19 during the past 24 hours in India, the Union Health Ministry said on Wednesday.

As per the bulletin issued by the ministry, the latest addition has pushed the cumulative case tally to 3,37,16,451, while the death toll rose to 4,47,751 as 378 succumbed to the virus.

On the other hand, 28,178 more people have recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 3,29,86,180. The recovery rate currently stands at 97.83 per cent.

The cumulative active caseload now stands at 2,82,520, which is the lowest in 194 days, the figures showed.

Active cases account for less than one per cent of total cases, the Ministry said.

Meanwhile, India has administered 87,66,63,490 doses of Covid-19 vaccine so far under the ongoing nationwide vaccination drive.
