Charanjit Channi takes oath as Punjab CM, Sukhjinder Randhawa, O P Soni as Deputy CMs

Chandigarh, Sep 20 (UNI) Three-time Chamkaur Sahib legislator Charanjit Singh Channi, who was elected Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader last evening, took oath as Punjab Chief Minister here on Monday.

Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and O P Soni also took oath as Deputy Chief Ministers.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi attended the ceremony.

Charanjit Singh Channi is first Scheduled Caste Chief Minister of Punjab. He was Technical Education and Employment Generation minister in the outgoing Captain government.

Punjab Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu was also present on the occasion while veteran Congress leader and outgoing chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh skipped the event.
