Two killed, seven missing as cloudburst hits Uttarakhand

Pithoragarh, Aug 30(UNI) Two people lost their lives while seven others went missing after cloudburst struck Jumma village in this district of Uttarakhand on Monday.


While two deaths have been confirmed, seven others are reportedly missing. Several people are feared trapped under the debris of the houses destroyed by the could burst.


According to the authorities, teams of the NDRF and SDRF have been dispatched to the disaster area. However, the rescue teams are taking very long to reach owing to remote and inaccessible area.


Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami spoke to the District Collector Ashish Chauhan for a first hand report on the situation and directed the authorities to provide immediate relief to those affected and to carry out rescue work on a war-footing.
