COVID-19: India logs 38,079 cases, 560 deaths in past 24 hrs

New Delhi, Jul 17 (UNI) India reported 38,079 new cases of COVID-19 during the past 24 hours pushing the case tally to 3,10,64,908, while the death toll mounted to 4,13,091 with 560 more fatalities, the Union Health Ministry said on Friday.

The active cases declined by 6,397 to stand at 4,24,025. It is now 1.36 per cent of the total caseload.

The past 24 hours saw 43,916 people recovering from the deadly virus, taking the total recovery count to 3,02,27,792, which is 97.31 per cent of the case tally. The fatality rate stood at 1.33 per cent.

The daily positivity has remained less than 3 per cent for the last 26 days. It was recorded at 1.91 per cent in the past one day.

Of the fresh fatalities, maximum 167 were reported from Maharashtra followed by 130 in Kerala.

Meanwhile, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said that a total of 44,20,21,954 samples have been tested so far for coronavirus. Of this, 19,98,715 were tested on Friday.

On the vaccination front, 39,96,95,879 people have been administered Covid-19 vaccines, with 42,12,557 being inoculated in the past 24 hours.
