Jammu-Srinagar highway closed due to landslide in Ramban

Srinagar : The authorities on Saturday said that the 270-km Jammu-Srinagar National Highway to remain closed for traffic after heavy rain triggered a landslide in Ramban district.

An official told Kashmir Despatch that no vehicular movement shall be allowed from either side on the Jammu-Srinagar Highway in view of the inclement weather prediction issued by the Met department besides apprehension of landslides, shooting stones at several places and continuous raining,” .

He said the highway has been closed for today due to multiple landslides in Ramban.

The officer further said that people are advised to undertake journey on the highway only after confirming the status of the road from traffic control units.

Pertinently, The meteorological department has predicted moderate rainfall across Jammu and Kashmir till today late evening and thereafter the weather is expected to improve.

The Weatherman has said that higher reaches may recieve snowfall ranging between 1 inch to 1 ft. He has said that there is possibility of few more spells around 21-23 and 26-28 April.
