Wearing face masks mandatory, violators to be booked under DMA: DC Shopian

SHOPIAN, MARCH24: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya on Wednesday said that wearing face masks with immediate effect is mandatory for people of Shopian district and whosoever violates the order he/she shall be booked under Disaster Management Act (DMA).

The DC said that the residents of Shopian are bound to wear face masks with immediate effect to stop the transmission of Covid-19 in the community. He said those who will float directions will be dealt strictly under Disaster DMA.

Meanwhile an order in this regard stated that all the Executive Magistrates BDOs, District/ Sectoral Officers are directed to ensure the usage of masks within their respective jurisdictions and in case any person is found without mask at public place, a fine of Rs.500 shall be imposed to violators and the same shall be credited in the official Account of District Red Cross Society Shopian.

The DC further directed all District/Sectoral Officers to ensure usage of masks in the offices working under their control.

He said that SSP Shopian, ADM & SDM Zainapora shall personally monitor the exercise within their jurisdiction through field inspection on a routine basis.

The DC appealed to the people of the district to make mask wearing successful and follow each and every guidelines of administration in letter and spirit. However he maintained that cooperation during current situations is necessary and the need of the hour is to adhere to the guidelines issued by the government on and off.
