Traffic ASI killed in hit and run accident on Srinagar-Jammu highway

Anantnag, Mar 18: An Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) of traffic police was killed after an unknown truck hit him at Banogam on Srinagar-Jammu national highway in the wee hours Thursday, official sources said.

They said a truck hit traffic ASI identified as Mohammad Shafi Bhat, resident of Shangus Nowgam Anantnag at Bonigam Qazigund around 0300 hrs.

The traffic cop died on the spot and the truck driver escaped from the spot.

A massive hunt has been launched to nab the driver and truck, they said adding that an FIR has been registered.
