UP: Wheat MSP increased by Rs 50 to Rs 1,975 per quintal

Lucknow, Mar 9 : Amid ongoing farmers stir over the three new farm laws in the country, Uttar Pradesh government has hiked the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of wheat by Rs 50 per quintal.

The Yogi Adityanath government has decided to increase the MSP to Rs 1,975 per quintal on wheat, which is to be purchased at around 6,000 purchase centres set up by the government from April 1.

Earlier the MSP on wheat in the state was Rs 1,925 per quintal.

The decision was taken in the state cabinet meeting held on Monday night through circulation.

Official sources here on Tuesday said that this year all the wheat purchases would be made through E-Pop machines to prevent any corruption. All the purchases would also be linked with Aadhar.

In another decision, the government has approved single step delivery of foodgrains from FCI godowns to the retail PDS outlets on GPS fitted vehicles.

Earlier the retailer PDS shops were delivered the foodgrains from block storage godowns which led to several corrupt practises.

In another decision , the government has approved the service rule of the technical cadre employed in the distilleries.
