Sensex up over 300 pts

Mumbai, Mar 9 :  The BSE Sensex on Tuesday advanced 357 pts to 50,798.93 in the opening session following gains in Finance, Health Care, Materials and Energy stocks.

The Nifty too rose by 124 pts to 15,080.40.

The Sensex registered intraday high and low at 50,994 and 50,702 pts respectively.

The Nifty registered intra days high and low at 15,119.30 and 15,035.45 respectively.

In 30 scrips 21 advanced, 8 declined while one was unchanged.

The gainers were HDFC Bank by 2.47 pc to Rs 1557, ICICI Bank by 2.33 pc to Rs 622.35, Asian Paints by 2 pc to Rs 2431.05, Bajaj finance by 1.96 pc to Rs 5427.65 and Bajaj Finserv by 1.75 pc to Rs 10,008.45.

The losers were Powergrid by 1.02 pc to Rs 218.05, ONGC by 1.01 pc to Rs 117.10, Nestle India by 0.65 pc to Rs 16,742 and Infosys by 0.44 pc to Rs 1330.40.
