Vast experience of new LoP Kharge will benefit the House: Naidu

New Delhi, Mar 8 : Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu on Monday complimented Congress leader Mr Mallikarjun Kharge on his new role as the Leader of the Opposition saying his vast and diverse experience will benefit the House significantly.

“Leader of the opposition has a major role in enabling the smooth functioning of the House as per the Rules of Procedure and conventions of the House. I am confident that this august House will benefit significantly from the rich and diverse experience of Kharge ji who has witnessed the functioning of the legislatures, both from the right and left side of the Chair”.

Mr Kharge has assumed the role of LoP following the retirement of the Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad who completed his long and illustrious innings in the Upper House where he was first elected in the year 1990 from Maharashtra and spent over two decades in the House as Minister of UPA Government and Leader of Opposition from 2014 to February 15 this year.
