Alternate road from DH TO Beehama shall open from Monday: DC

Ganderbal March 06 : Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal,

Shafqat Iqbal today chaired a meeting to discuss the modalities regarding

the opening of alternate link road from District Hospital to Qazi Complex

Beehama.

The meeting was attended by the President Municipal Council

Ganderbal, ASP Ganderbal, ARTO Ganderbal, Dy. SP Traffic, Tehsildar

Ganderbal and other concerned.

During the meeting threadbare discussion was held upon the

possibilities for opening newly constructed alternate link road from District

Hospital to Qazi Complex Beehama.

At the onset of meeting, the DC briefed the meeting that purpose of

opening of alternate road is to streamline the traffic in the town especially

from Beehama Chock to Towheed Chock which remains congested during

the peak hours.

In this regard the DC sought suggestions from the concerned

officers/officials regarding the measures to be adopted for opening said

road and after brief discussion it was decided that the road shall be opened

for one-way traffic from Monday on trial basis. It was also decided that the

vehicles from Duderhama Chock towards District Hospital shall follow the

link road towards Qazi Complex Beehama and Check Fatehpora and no

vehicle from District Hospital shall be allowed to come back towards

Duderhama Chock.

Dy. SP traffic was directed to deploy traffic personnel on identified

spots to regulate the traffic as per the decided root plan.

Pertinently, the 1 KM link road is developed by the Municipal Council

Ganderbal at minimum cost by engaging its men and machinery within the

bare minimum time. The road shall remain one side open for light vehicles

Meanwhile, the DC also reviewed the development of road stretch

and gave necessary directions to the President Municipal Council for

further development of the road and was asked to check possibility for

upgrading the said road for two -way traffic.
