45 Mortar Shells Recovered During Joint Search Operation in North Kashmir’s Sopore

Sopore:Security forces on Wednesday recovered 45 mortar shells during a joint search operation in the Sheer Colony area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Officials said the speculative Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was launched jointly by the Special Operations Group (SOG) Sopore, 177 Battalion CRPF and 52 Rashtriya Rifles in Ghat Ningli and Sheer Colony under the jurisdiction of Police Station Tarzoo.

During the operation, the shells were recovered from a residential house belonging to Shahbaz Aziz Dar, son of Abdul Aziz Dar, a resident of Sheer Colony.

The recovered shells were taken into custody, while further investigation has been initiated to ascertain how the explosive material came to be stored at the premises. [KNT]
