Srinagar: Mir Farhat Mustafa, Advocate,Legal Advisor to the Brick Kiln Association Budgam, and Executive Member of the Brick Kiln Association Budgam, called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir to discuss issues affecting the brick kiln sector and other matters of public importance.
During the meeting, the concerns arising from the recent Notification No. 119, including its impact on brick kiln owners, workers, and related stakeholders, were brought to the attention of the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor. The issue of illegal mining and its implications for the lawful functioning of the brick kiln industry was also discussed.
Representing the Brick Kiln Association Budgam, Mir Farhat Mustafa urged that genuine and law-abiding brick kiln owners should be provided a fair opportunity to continue their operations in accordance with law, while ensuring that environmental norms and legal requirements are effectively implemented. The need for a balanced and practical approach that protects livelihoods while safeguarding the environment was emphasized.
The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor gave a patient hearing to the issues raised, and it is hoped that the concerns of the brick kiln sector will receive due consideration in the larger public interest.
