EOW Kashmir chargesheets man in fake Bahrain job scam

Srinagar:The Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Kashmir, on Friday said it has filed a chargesheet against a Srinagar man accused of allegedly duping several job seekers of lakhs of rupees by promising jobs in Bahrain and providing forged visas, job offer letters and other fake travel documents.

In a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a spokesperson said the Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Kashmir, Crime Branch J&K, has filed a chargesheet in FIR No. 67/2021 under Sections 420, 468 and 471 RPC against Fayaz Ahmad Zarger, son of Mohd. Shafi Zarger, a resident of Qutub Din Pora, Aali Kadal, Jamia Masjid, Srinagar, before the Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar, for offences of cheating and forgery.

He said the case was registered on the basis of a written complaint alleging that the accused, who was operating M/s HR Choice International Education Consultancy at Karanagar, Srinagar, lured the complainant with false promises of securing a job in Bahrain.

“During the investigation, it was revealed that the accused had similarly duped the complainant and several other persons, collected lakhs of rupees from them, and provided forged job offer letters, visas, air tickets and other fabricated documents. To lend credibility to the scheme, the victims were made to undergo online interviews, medical examinations and execute agreements,” the spokesperson said.

However, no employment was arranged and the money was neither refunded nor returned, he said, adding that the allegations were substantiated during the investigation and, upon completion of all legal formalities, the chargesheet was presented before the competent court for judicial determination.

The general public has been advised to remain vigilant against economic fraudsters and report any such incidents to the SSP, EOW Kashmir, Crime Branch J&K. Victims of economic fraud may also submit their complaints via email at [email protected].—(KNO)
