Sacrifice of Karbala Continues to Inspire Fight for Truth, Justice: Mehbooba Mufti

Srinagar, June 26,: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti on Friday paid tributes to Imam Hussain (A.S.) and his companions on the solemn occasion of Muharram, describing the sacrifice at Karbala as an enduring symbol of truth, justice, dignity and resistance against tyranny.
In a message, Mehbooba Mufti said the events of Karbala continue to serve as an eternal beacon for humanity and remind people that remaining silent in the face of injustice amounts to a betrayal of moral conscience.
She said that as people across the world continue to endure oppression, the spirit of Karbala inspires hope, resilience and the courage to stand for what is right.
Referring to recent developments in West Asia, the PDP president said many people see the same spirit reflected in Iran’s resolve during its recent conflict with the United States and Israel.
Muharram, particularly the first ten days of the Islamic month, commemorates the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (A.S.) and his companions in the Battle of Karbala and is observed with religious gatherings and processions across Jammu and Kashmir and other parts of the world. [KNT]
