Mirwaiz Expresses Grief Over Poonch Road Tragedy and Nepal Floods; Calls for Swift Justice in Kishtwar Minor Case

Srinagar, August 27: Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Dr Moulvi Mohammad Umar Farooq has expressed deep grief and anguish over the tragic road accident in Surankote, Poonch, in which six precious lives were lost and three people were injured, including a child stated to be in critical condition.

Conveying his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, Mirwaiz prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the deceased Jannat-ul-Firdous, give patience and strength to their families, and grant a complete and speedy recovery to the injured.

Mirwaiz also expressed profound shock and concern over the reported rape and subsequent death of a minor tribal girl in Kishtwar. He said the circumstances surrounding the case are deeply disturbing and have understandably caused anguish across society. While noting the arrests and ongoing investigation, he stressed that the matter must be investigated thoroughly, impartially and without delay so that the truth is established and all those found responsible are held accountable under law.

He said the protection and dignity of children, particularly those belonging to vulnerable and marginalised communities, is a collective moral and societal responsibility, and such cases demand both justice for the victim and institutional accountability wherever lapses are established.

Mirwaiz further expressed deep sorrow over the catastrophic flash floods that have devastated parts of Nepal and the adjoining Himalayan region, causing a massive loss of life and leaving large numbers of people missing and displaced.

He extended heartfelt condolences and solidarity to the people of Nepal and all those affected by the disaster, and prayed for the safety and early recovery of those still missing and stranded.

Mirwaiz prayed that Almighty Allah protect people from calamities, grant comfort to all bereaved families, healing to the injured, and strength to the rescue personnel and communities engaged in relief efforts.
