PM Modi Marks Seven Years Since Abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A, Reaffirms Commitment to J&K and Ladakh’s Development

New Delhi, August 5: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday marked the seventh anniversary of the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A, describing the decision taken on August 5, 2019, as a historic milestone that ushered in a new era of development and empowerment for Jammu and Kashmir as well as Ladakh.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister said the constitutional changes had transformed the region over the past seven years by expanding infrastructure and creating new opportunities in education, healthcare, entrepreneurship, and sports.

He also highlighted that the full application of the Constitution of India had ensured constitutional rights for all citizens, particularly benefiting women and marginalized communities who, according to the Prime Minister, had been denied several rights for decades.

PM Modi noted that this year’s anniversary holds special significance as India is commemorating the 125th birth anniversary of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee. He said Dr. Mookerjee’s lifelong commitment to national unity continues to inspire generations and that his vision found historic fulfilment on August 5, 2019.

Reaffirming the Centre’s commitment to the region, the Prime Minister said the government would continue working for the progress and prosperity of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, ensuring that every citizen has the opportunity to dream big, succeed, and contribute to the vision of a Viksit Bharat (Developed India).
