Weather Update: Rain to Continue Across J&K, Heavy Showers Likely in Jammu Division Next Week

Srinagar, July 25: Jammu and Kashmir is witnessing rain at many places and the current spell is expected to continue till late Saturday afternoon before showing improvement, the MeT department said.

An official of MeT told GNS that today the current rain spell over most places of Kashmir division and many places of Jammu division is likely to continue intermittently till late afternoon with improvement thereafter.

From 26-27 July, one or two spells of rain and thundershowers are expected at many places. Brief intense showers are likely at a few places in Jammu division, especially during afternoon, evening and early morning hours.

Between 28-31 July, light to moderate rain and thundershowers are forecast at most places in J&K. The department has warned of the possibility of heavy rain and brief intense heavy showers in a few districts of Jammu division during late night and early morning hours as well as in the afternoon and evening.

The MeT has cautioned about heavy rain and brief intense heavy showers at a few districts of Jammu division during 28-31 July.

It has also warned of the possibility of flash floods, landslides and mudslides at vulnerable places over the next 5 days.

General public, tourists, travellers and transporters have been advised to follow the advisories issued by the administration and avoid travel to slide-prone areas during bad weather.
