Rainfall Activity Likely to Intensify Across J&K From July 19

Srinagar, July 16,: The Meteorological Centre, Srinagar, has forecast a fresh spell of wet weather across Jammu and Kashmir beginning July 19, with widespread rain and thunderstorms expected to continue until July 23.
According to the forecast, rain and thundershowers are likely at many places across the Union Territory on July 19.
Between July 20 and July 23, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy with intermittent spells of light to moderate rain and thundershowers at most places. The MeT Department has also warned that a few locations could witness brief spells of intense rainfall.
The department has advised people to remain cautious as heavy showers may trigger flash floods in vulnerable areas of the Chenab Valley, the Pir Panjal range and a few hilly areas of the Kashmir Valley between July 20 and July 22.
It has also cautioned about the possibility of waterlogging in low-lying areas, landslides, mudslides and shooting stones along vulnerable stretches, particularly on hilly roads and highways.
Authorities have advised travelers, commuters and residents living in vulnerable areas to stay updated with official weather advisories and exercise caution during the forecast period. [KNT]
