
Srinagar, July 9,: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Kashmir, of the Crime Branch, in collaboration with the Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), Kashmir, have destroyed a large quantity of seized narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances at the incineration facility at IGC Lassipora in Pulwama in compliance with court directions.
The destroyed contraband comprised charas, ganja and psychotropic tablets seized by the ANTF during various anti-narcotics operations across Kashmir.
The disposal was carried out through a scientific and environmentally compliant incineration process under the supervision of the Drug Disposal Committee, ensuring adherence to prescribed legal procedures.
The destruction process was chaired by Senior Superintendent of Police, Economic Offences Wing Kashmir and Chairman of the Drug Disposal Committee, Abdul Waheed Shah. Deputy Superintendent of Police, ANTF Kashmir, Kubra Nazir, Senior Prosecuting Officer, EOW Kashmir, Abdul Bari, and other concerned officers were also present during the exercise.
Officials said the destruction of the seized contraband was carried out in accordance with the orders of the competent court and in strict compliance with the applicable legal provisions.
The exercise, officials said, forms part of the government’s efforts under the ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’ aimed at curbing drug abuse and dismantling the narcotics network by ensuring the timely and lawful disposal of seized narcotic substances. [KNT]
