PDD Worker Suffers Electric Shock During Duty in Sumlar Area of Bandipora

Bandipora: A casual labourer working with the Power Development Department (PDD) sustained an electric shock while performing duty on an electric pole in the Sumlar area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Saturday, officials said.

The injured has been identified as Qaiser Ahmad Baba, son of Ghulam Rasool Baba, a resident of Sumlar, Bandipora, aged around 33 years.

According to officials, the injured worker was initially taken to Sub-District Hospital Bandipora after the incident and was later referred to JVC Hospital Bemina in Srinagar for specialized treatment.

Hospital sources said the patient was admitted to the hospital after suffering an electric shock and his condition is being monitored.

Reports said that Qaiser Ahmad Baba was working as a casual labourer with the PDD Department and received the electric shock while carrying out work on an electric pole in the area.

The incident has once again highlighted safety concerns surrounding field staff engaged in power maintenance and repair operations. [KNT]
