A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel died after falling unconscious in south Kashmir’s Shopian district during the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday, officials said.
The deceased has been identified as Head Constable Surindher Singh of 178 Battalion CRPF. He was a resident of the Shalibanda area of Hyderabad.
Officials said the CRPF personnel was posted at Police Post Wachi in the Zainapora area of Shopian district.
The deceased reportedly fell unconscious while on duty, following which he was immediately evacuated to Community Health Center (CHC) Zainapora for medical treatment.
However, doctors at the hospital declared him brought dead, officials said.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and medico-legal formalities were being carried out. The exact cause of death was not immediately known.
American National Dies After Falling Unconscious in Srinagar
An 83-year-old United States national was found unconscious in Srinagar and was later declared dead at a private hospital, officials said.
Police said the deceased has been identified as Anderson John David, son of John David, a resident of Washington DC, USA.
According to officials, the foreign tourist reportedly fell unconscious during the morning hours while staying at House Boat located at Ghat No. 13 on the Dal Lake in Srinagar.
He was shifted to Paras Hospital Sonawar, where doctors declared him brought dead, officials said.
Subsequently, a police party from Police Post Nehru Park shifted the body to SMHS Hospital Srinagar for whole body CT scan and other medico-legal formalities.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and proceedings under relevant legal provisions have been initiated. The exact cause of death was not immediately known.
The body is expected to be handed over after completion of medico-legal procedures and coordination with concerned authorities. [KNT]
