Police Demolishes Commercial Complex Worth ₹1 Crore Belongs to Drug Peddler in Anantnag

Anantnag,May 02: In a major action against drug trafficking networks and illegally acquired assets, police in Anantnag, in continuation of its sustained crackdown on narcotics-related activities, facilitated the demolition of an illegally constructed commercial complex comprising 15 shops, valued at approximately ₹1 crore, at Waghama, Bijbehara.

The demolished property belonged to notorious drug peddler Sajad Ahmad Rather son of Mohammad Abdullah Rather resident of Waghama Bijbehara, who is involved in Case FIR No. 63/2017 under Section 8/15 NDPS Act of Police Station Yaripora.

During verification, it surfaced that the said shopping complex had been illegally constructed on State land. Acting upon due legal process and in coordination with the concerned civil authorities, the illegal structure was demolished as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle the financial infrastructure of drug syndicates operating in the district.

Police remains committed to its zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and reiterates that not only drug peddlers but also assets created through illegal means or encroachment for criminal purposes will be identified and acted upon strictly as per law.
