In a significant crackdown against drug trafficking and illegal encroachments, Jammu and Kashmir Police carried out major operations in South Kashmir’s Anantnag and Shopian districts, demolishing illegal structures and assets raised on state land in coordination with the civil administration.
Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted extensive anti-drug operations in South Kashmir’s Anantnag and Shopian districts, targeting illegal constructions linked to narcotics-related activities.
In Anantnag, police in coordination with the civil administration demolished properties worth crores that had been illegally constructed on state land by individuals involved in drug trafficking. The demolition drive was carried out on land under Khasra No. 319 (min) in Sangam along NHW-44, where several roadside eateries and restaurant structures were removed.
Among the demolished properties were “Kashmir Restaurant (Dabba)”, “Taj Restaurant (Dabba)”, and “Mir Restaurant”, all linked to individuals involved in NDPS Act cases. Authorities confirmed that these structures were illegally erected without authorization.
Meanwhile, in Shopian, under the ongoing Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyaan, police intensified their anti-drug drive in collaboration with the district administration. In one operation, illegally planted poplar trees on state land were cut down, while in another, four shops constructed unlawfully on state land were demolished.
Officials stated that all actions were carried out strictly in accordance with legal procedures and in the presence of magistrates to ensure transparency.
Police reiterated their zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and urged the public to cooperate by sharing information to help build a drug-free society.
