Water Supply to Remain Disrupted in Srinagar for 48 Hours from April 21

Water tap.
Srinagar, April 20,: The Water Works Division Srinagar has announced a disruption in potable water supply across major parts of the city and adjoining areas for approximately 48 hours starting April 21.
According to a public notice issued by the Executive Engineer, the disruption is due to urgent repair works on the Sindh Power Canal (Phase III) being carried out by the authorities in Ganderbal on April 21 and 22.
The repair work is expected to affect raw water supply to key water treatment plants, including Alusteng and Rangil, leading to a temporary interruption in potable water distribution.
The supply disruption will begin from 6:00 am on April 21 and is likely to continue until 6:00 am on April 23.
Authorities have advised residents to store sufficient water in advance to meet their requirements during the affected period.
Several areas across Srinagar, including parts of Soura, Habak, Nigeen, Zadibal, Hawal, Nowhatta, Lal Bazar, Hazratbal, Rainawari, Khanyar, Nawab Bazar, Karan Nagar, Eidgah, Batmaloo, Qamarwari, and adjoining localities, are expected to face the impact.
Officials said the inconvenience caused is regretted and assured that efforts are being made to complete the repair work within the scheduled timeframe.
The department has also issued contact numbers for the provincial control room for addressing complaints related to water shortage. [KNT]
