Fire Guts House, Crockery Shop in HMT Srinagar

Srinagar: A fire broke out in the HMT area of Srinagar, damaging a residential house and a commercial establishment before being brought under control by the Fire and Emergency Services Department.

Officials said the State Fire Control Room at Batamaloo received a distress call about the incident, following which fire tenders from Fire Station Mujgund, Fire Station JVC and Fire Station Safa Kadal were immediately dispatched to the spot.

Upon arrival, firefighting personnel found a single-storey residential house and an adjoining crockery shop engulfed in flames. Teams swiftly launched an operation to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby structures in the locality.

After sustained efforts, the fire was brought under control. However, both the residential house and the crockery shop were completely gutted in the incident, resulting in significant property damage.

Officials said the exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained and will be determined after a detailed investigation. No loss of life or injuries were reported in the incident. [KNT]
