Srinagar, Feb 20,: Acting on specific intelligence, the Food Safety Enforcement Drug and Food Control Organization (DFCO) today carried out a targeted inspection in the Abanshah area, HMT, and seized approximately 725 kilograms of honey stored without any statutory labeling.
Authorities noted a complete absence of mandatory labeling, including:
Product Name
Net Quantity
Date of Packing / Manufacturing
Best Before / Expiry Date
Name & Address of Manufacturer / Packer
FSSAI License Number
Storage Instructions (if applicable)
The entire stock was seized, and samples have been collected for analytical purposes.
Strict Warning to Food Business Operators
The DFCO reiterated that unlabelled food products are illegal and pose serious health risks. Violators of the Food Safety and Standards (FSS) Act face strict legal action.
Advisory for Consumers
Consumers are urged to report any suspicious or unlabelled food items immediately by calling 104 (Food Safety Helpline). Packaged food must always carry complete details of the manufacturer, date of packing, and use-by date.
This seizure underscores DFCO’s zero-tolerance policy toward unsafe and non-compliant food circulating in Kashmir’s markets.
