Kashmir Outperforms Jammu in Class 11th Results, Data Shows Stronger Distinctions and Overall Performance

Srinagar: The results of the Higher Secondary Part One Class 11th Annual 2025 Regular Examination, declared by the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education on Monday, reveal a clear performance gap between Winter Zone Kashmir and Winter Zone Jammu, with Kashmir Province registering a significantly higher overall pass percentage.

According to official gazette figures, Winter Zone Kashmir recorded an overall pass percentage of 89 percent, compared to 81 percent in Winter Zone Jammu, marking an eight percentage point difference in favour of Kashmir.

In Kashmir Province, a total of 60,003 students appeared in the examination, of whom 53,670 qualified successfully. In contrast, Jammu Province saw 17,570 students enrolled, with 14,622 candidates clearing the examination.

The distinction figures also reflect stronger performance in Kashmir. As many as 12,859 candidates from Kashmir secured distinction, while Jammu recorded 5,107 distinctions. In first division results, Kashmir again led with 18,206 candidates, compared to 7,188 in Jammu.

However, Jammu Province recorded a higher number of students in second division at 1,947, whereas Kashmir reported 902 candidates in the same category. Third division figures stood at 430 in Kashmir and 320 in Jammu.

Failure data as per the news ageny Kashmir News Trust shows that Jammu recorded 178 failures, higher than Kashmir’s 156, despite having a significantly smaller candidate base. Absentee numbers were also marginally higher in Kashmir at 15, compared to seven in Jammu. Both zones reported two cancelled examinations each.

Education officials said that subject-wise performance across Arts, Science, and Commerce streams remained satisfactory in both zones, with vocational and elective subjects showing consistently high pass percentages. However, the larger student base and stronger distinction rates in Kashmir contributed to its overall edge.

The combined Jammu and Kashmir result reflected an overall pass percentage of 83 percent, with 19,321 candidates qualifying out of 24,040 enrolled across both zones.

The Winter Zone examinations were conducted during the October–November session, and the results were formally published today on Monday, by the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education. [[KNT]
