Motorcyclist Killed After Bike Plunges into Gorge in Kishtwar

Kishtwar, Jan 17,: One person was killed on the spot in a motorcycle accident reported from Pinjrari area of Dachhan in Kishtwar district on Saturday, officials said.

According to officials, the motorcycle skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge, resulting in the instantaneous death of the rider. The deceased has been identified as Abdul Majied, an inhabitant of Thakrie, Sarwana area of Kishtwar.

Soon after the incident, police and rescue teams rushed to the spot and initiated rescue and recovery operations. The body of the deceased was retrieved from the gorge and shifted for medico-legal formalities.

Police said that the cause of the accident is prima facie over-speeding. Authorities have urged motorists to exercise caution while driving on hilly roads, particularly during winter when road conditions remain risky.[KNT]
