IGP Kashmir Holds Interaction with Probationary DySsP of 2024 Batch at PCR Kashmir

Srinagar ,January 09:The Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, Shri V.K. Birdi, IPS, held an interaction with 29 Probationary Deputy Superintendents of Police DySsP of the 2024 batch, undergoing practical training across districts of the Kashmir Zone. The programme was conducted at Police Control Room Kashmir and attended by senior officers, including the DIG Central Kashmir Range, SSP PCR Kashmir, SO to IGP Kashmir, and other senior officers.

At the outset, the IGP welcomed the probationers and congratulated them on joining the police service, emphasizing that integrity, fairness, impartiality, accountability, and discipline must guide all police actions.

Shri V.K. Birdi highlighted the roles and responsibilities of DySsP in operations, investigations, law and order, and administrative supervision, stressing sound decision-making, leadership, and learning during the initial years of service. He underscored the importance of professional, thorough, and outcome-oriented investigations, with adherence to procedural requirements under special laws such as the UAPA and NDPS Act.

The IGP advised the officers to acquire investigative and operational skills, maintain comprehensive knowledge of criminal laws and procedures, and utilize information technology effectively. He emphasized adherence to police rules, standing orders, and proper documentation, including FIR drafting, petitions, case laws, police station management, and register maintenance.

Professional conduct, discipline, supervision of subordinates, proper uniform turnout, and ethical behaviour were stressed. Officers were encouraged to develop interpersonal skills, humility, moral values, and consult Bare Acts, manuals, and official instructions to enhance competence.

Shri V.K. Birdi highlighted the importance of public engagement, advising officers to adopt a problem-solving approach, balance compassion with firmness, and exercise responsible use of social media.

The programme concluded with the probationary officers reaffirming their commitment to serve with dedication, integrity, and responsibility, upholding the values and traditions of the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
