Fog advisory issued for air travellers, Passengers advised to book post 10 AM flights to avoid cancellations

Srinagar, Jan 6,: Authorities on Tuesday issued an advisory for air travellers, urging passengers to book flight tickets for post-10 AM slots to minimize the risk of cancellations caused by dense fog across several north Indian sectors.

According to officials, airports in Delhi, Jammu and Srinagar have been witnessing frequent disruptions in early morning flight operations due to persistent fog during the ongoing winter season. Poor visibility conditions have often led to delays, diversions and cancellations, particularly during the first half of the day.

Authorities said fog conditions usually improve by late morning, and visibility tends to stabilize after 10 AM, allowing smoother aircraft operations. In view of this pattern, passengers have been advised to prefer booking flights scheduled after 10 AM to avoid inconvenience and uncertainty.

Travellers have also been asked to regularly check flight status with airlines and remain in touch with airport authorities for real time updates before heading to airports. Officials said airlines are making operational adjustments based on prevailing weather conditions, but fog remains a significant challenge during peak winter months.

The advisory is aimed at reducing passenger hardship as dense fog continues to affect air connectivity across the region, particularly during early morning hours.
